STEM Expert: Chemistry & Computational Chemistry (PhD)

Contractor role, remote worldwide. You help train AI systems by evaluating and critiquing chemistry and computational chemistry problems, workflows and reasoning chains for benchmarking.

Typical work: give expert insight on reaction mechanisms, synthesis planning, spectroscopy and molecular simulation; assess experimental protocols and simulation settings for accuracy and reproducibility; analyse chemical, spectroscopic and simulation data; and document findings so the customer's team can reuse them. Academic experience (postdoc, research scientist or faculty) is strongly preferred.

Who it suits

  • PhD in chemistry, computational chemistry, chemical biology, materials science or a closely related field
  • Hands-on research experience: wet lab for experimental subfields, or extensive simulation-heavy research for computational ones
  • Deep expertise in at least one area, such as organic synthesis, physical chemistry, spectroscopy, molecular dynamics or cheminformatics
  • Professional English (C1 or higher) and Python or standard tools in your subfield (for example Gaussian, ORCA, Psi4, GROMACS, LAMMPS or RDKit)

Estimate your earnings on this role

A hypothetical calculation from the numbers you enter. It is not a promise of work or earnings. Most of the difference between a headline rate and what you take home is how much of your time has paid work in it.

Per month, after tax

Slow assumes 60% of your expected paid hours, fast assumes 125%. The rate used for tasks is the fee, less unpaid tasks, divided by the time one task takes.
